Securing the Future

On February 9, 2026, we hosted the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, as he announced the Government of Canada’s new automotive strategy, including a $9.3-million strategic investment in Kumi Canada Corporation (KCC). The funding is being delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
Government of Canada is helping to protect, build and transform the auto industry
It was an incredible event and a special moment of recognition for our KCC associates for what they have accomplished. It was also recognition for our local community – represented by Mayor James Leduc of Bradford and Mayor Lynn Dollin of Innisfil, and our key industrial project partners – Engel, Fanuc, Advanced Motion & Controls, and Keyence.
In our current highly competitive, highly uncertain global environment, new business is prized, hard-won, and never to be taken for granted.
Over the next three years, KCC will install advanced injection moulding machines, new production lines, robotics, and automation to increase competitiveness in our upcoming new model launches and in the future of our operations beyond that.
“Kumi Canada Corporation is a class-leading manufacturer of automotive plastics, and a proud citizen of the Bradford area since 1998. This contribution from FedDev Ontario will allow Kumi to continue making significant investments in machinery and automation, and most importantly—to secure the future of our associates and our community. FedDev Ontario is helping us sustain our Canadian competitive advantage in the face of the challenges presented by tariffs. We are grateful for this opportunity to drive jobs, advanced technology, and strengthen the future of manufacturing in Canada.”
– Justin Moreau, President, Kumi Canada Corporation

Some of the key technologies we will develop with this project include advanced high-tonnage injection-moulding equipment, advanced vision inspection, and robotic part handling. These technologies will liberate our associates from many mundane, redundant tasks within the operation and allow them to focus on the things that merit their skills and expertise.
Our continued success in these areas is essential to securing our competitive footprint in Bradford and making an impact in securing the future of Canadian manufacturing.

“Our new auto strategy will integrate emerging technologies into our existing supply chains to support jobs and business across Canada. The auto sector in southern Ontario is a critical part of our economy and the businesses and workers that support it are top of mind. I’m thrilled to see this renewed strategy integrate emerging technologies and keep Canada as a leader in autos. I’m thrilled to support Kumi as they support the supply chain for autos in southern Ontario.”
– The Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario
